Getting Real Customer Insights Without the Corporate BS

The Problem Most Businesses Face

A colleague running a wellness brand needed to know which direction to take her next product line. Her customers loved what she had, but she had no idea what they wanted next.

Text surveys got less than 15% response rates with short (often one word answers). Focus groups cost more than her marketing budget. She was guessing when she should have been listening.

AI Voice Survey Experiment

We tried something simple: let customers talk instead of type.

I built a voice-based survey using ElevenLabs AI that asked questions like a real conversation. n8n stored the results in an Airtable Customers could respond by speaking, just like they were chatting over coffee.

 

Response rates jumped from 15% to over 75%.

But here's what really mattered: people opened up. They shared stories about scents that reminded them of their grandmother's kitchen. They explained why they'd pay more for sustainable packaging. They even suggested product names that were never thought about.

Voice removed the friction. People talk 3-4x faster than they type, and they share details they'd edit out of written responses.

Why This Matters

Market research shouldn't only be available to big brands with big budgets. Voice survey technology makes real customer insights affordable and scalable for small businesses.

The wellness brand is now making product decisions based on actual customer voices, not guesswork.
