Reinventing Feedback Culture

Feedback Culture.jpg

Collaborated with AI to create a new Feedback Framework

Challenge

The problem was that both leaders and associates were unhappy with the feedback methods being taught and used. I’ve heard this for years in 1:1 and cohort discussions.

My goal was to develop a feedback method that was clear, easy to use, and facilitated open conversation while aligning with our cultural transformation.

AI Collaboration
  • I asked Manus (an AI tool that excels in performing deep research) to research common feedback methods with pros and cons of each. I received a 25+ page report with links to over a dozen original sources.

  • I collaborated with NotebookLM to distill that massive report into key points and insights.

  • This gave me a great idea for a new way to frame and deliver feedback that supported the coaching and mentoring intent we were practicing in our leadership cohorts.

  • ChatGPT helped me refine my idea for a custom feedback method, tailored to our culture and leadership style.

  • Both ChatGPT and Claude were asked to play devil’s advocate and poke holes in my new framework.

  • Claude helped me put the finishing touch on a new workshop and short paper on why this new method can be effective.

Result

I introduced the framework in my leadership cohorts. Leaders who tested the new framework reported much happier direct reports and more productive conversations.

Takeaway

Once I clarified the problem and my goal, AI amplified my ability to create an innovative solution. Initial tests show this method aligns with our culture, is transforming behavior in a positive manner, and is building relationships.

Got something on your mind? I'm always up for a good conversation about what's working (and what's not). If you want to chat about:

  • Implementing human-centered AI

  • Transforming your organization

  • Your leadership challenges

  • Agility and how it might apply

Or maybe you'd just like to connect. I read every email personally and I'd love to hear from you and usually respond with a day or two.

Thanks,
