The Details

Challenge

A firmwide transformation document was rejected by executive leadership. The reason wasn’t the intent of the document, but the tone didn’t align with the firm’s phrasing and language. A department leader asked for my help.

AI Partnership

First, I needed how to serve the VIPs more deeply. This is different then thinking about the "audience" as that can be very vague and broad.

I uploaded content created by the General Partners who needed to approve the document and asked Microsoft Copilot to build a persona. This persona captured their learning style, values, and communication preferences. Now I had a customer and knew how to better serve them.
 

Next, I used Copilot as a tone coach. I uploaded speeches from our managing partner and asked AI to absorb the tone, language, metaphors, and specific phrases. Then I had AI compare the original document against both the GP persona and the managing partner's style, highlighting every opportunity to adjust phrasing.

For every suggested change, I requested at least three options with reasoning for each. This gave me choices, not commands. I reviewed each recommendation and decided how to incorporate the phrasing while protecting the original intent.

This took time. The multipage document had recommendations for almost every line. But I maintained complete control over the intent while letting AI handle the linguistic heavy lifting.

Result

The revised document was immediately approved by the same executive who rejected it. The department leader who asked for help was thrilled that I didn’t change any of her intent. The teams using the new document found it helpful.

This document is now spreading across the organization and becoming a cornerstone of the transformation.

Takeaway

I didn't have AI rewrite anything for me. I created a Clarity Amplifier by asking AI to help me better understand the people I need to serve more deeply. I also used AI to help me improve my messaging and create more powerful impact.

This is what it means to be AI Amplified!
